Canadians in Baseball
Larry Walker
What can I say about this amazing athlete? He is the total package. He started his career in 1989 and has made an impact on Major League Baseball ever since. Nicknamed "The Canadian Club" Larry is a presence on the field, last year he one the NL batting title with a .363 batting average and was recently named Canadian athlete of the year. Two years ago he was a finalist for the same award. Larry is a power hitter, but also has 4 gold gloves under his belt, he can even steal the occasional base for you. Larry is if not one of the best Canadians to ever play the game.
Matt Stairs
Here is Matt Stairs, who opver the past 2 years has developed into one of the elite in the AL. Of course some help from Mr. Mcgwire a while back didn't hurt him. Matt had an outstanding rookie season, and has been the big player in the athletics lineup. I feel in a couple eyars time he will win a batting title, and if given a chance to play for a contender, could prove his true worth. Matt hits long high home runs, and is a leader in the clubhouse, another great Canadian in baseball.
Jason Dickson
A young talented Canadian pitcher is Jason Dickson. Two years ago in his rookie season he dazzled at times for the Anaheim Angels, he was a close second in the rookie of the year balloting. He made the AL all-star team as well that year. With a few more years, he could be one of the best dominant pitchers in the game.
Paul Quantrill
Port Hope Ontario's Paul Quantrill has been a steady relief pitcher in the 90's. He started out with the Red Sox and now is a Toronto Blue Jay. Paul has as he calls it "a rubber arm" and is always ready to take the ball. He usually is in the top 5 in the AL for appearances by a reliever, and is proud to carry the maple leaf to the mound with him each time.
Rob Ducey
It has been a strange career for this Canadian. He hasn't really played to his full potential in my opinion. He started out with the Blue Jays and most recently plays with the Mariners. Rob is a steady outfielder when he is given the chance to play, unfortunately he isn't given too much of a chance. Yet I give him 2 thumbs up because he is always giving 110% out there.
Paul Spoljaric
